Odds and ends in the library

I have started to add some wonderful books into our nonfiction section and I am excited to be adding more from the book fair!  Come check them out!
A HUGE thank you, to my new friend and author C. Alexander London.  Thank you so much for sending me these books to share with my students.  They will love them!!

Thank you to Mrs. Long for the new awesome addition to my display!
Without fail, this is one of the most popular places in the library!

Banned Books Week

I have spent the past 2 weeks traveling to classes to talk about Banned Books week.  We watched the trailer of The Book Thief and discussed what has happened in the past when people are opposed to certain books.  We played a Banned Books Kahoot to learn even more about celebrating our freedom to read and to choose WHAT we want to read.  We also discussed age appropriateness and finding ways to choose the right books for yourself.  It opened up some wonderful, thoughtful discussions!

Working with my OCM to make our tshirts for the Olympics!

Lots of kids coming in the morning to socialize and play in the Makerspace area!

Registration for Battle of the Books have started.  Information for signing up, a list of the books, and information on our Logo contest can all be found in the library.

Students started mini bowling with playdough!
I am working on a huge project to number and color-code all the series, put lexiles in all the book, and make genre bookmarks!
Spent Friday with the 6th grade classes and Mrs. Henricksen to do a Scavenger Hunt through the GWAEA resources.  They loved it and got a bookmark as a prize when they finished!
Students are finding all sorts of comfy places in which to do our maker stations!
