It's SHARK WEEK!
Hopefully everyone has been enjoying all the shows this week on the Discovery Channel for Shark Week. We especially enjoyed "Sharknado 2" and "47 days adrift with sharks" the true story about Louie Zamperini and 2 crewmen who survived 47 days at sea! Incredible story!
We almost doubled our reading goal!!!
We have almost doubled our goal for summer reading minutes at AMS!
As a reward, I got in touch with Mike Ritland, author of Navy SEAL Dogs, who is a former SEAL that grew up in Cedar Falls and now trains combat dogs. He will be coming in September to do an assembly and I feel so honored that he would come. I will be talking to all of the kids about this before he comes.
We will be gathering supplies for his foundation he has set up. His foundation takes care of dogs once they retire from combat. So we will gather dog toys and supplies.
Thanks for the support. I think this summer reading has been a tremendous success and as of now we are ranked in 2nd place out of all Iowa schools participating! So absolutely wonderful!!!
